"Some miners liked their bait wrapped up in grease proof sliced bread packets with an outer wrapping of newspaper preferable to a bait tin.  Although taking paper underground was not encouraged, a blind eye was turned.  There were good reasons for using newspaper, 1 it could be real, 2 a bait tin had to be carried out, and 3 it could be used as toilet paper". - Bob Olley
