"In the mid18th century men working near Marsden Grotto discovered human remains buried in the sand.  The bones and other small items led the authorities to conclude that remains were that of smugglers who were active at the time and had been betrayed by their fellow villains to the customs and excise.  They were murdered for their treachery and buried in the sands of Marsden Bay."
